The Alliance Française de Nairobi is a not-for-profit language and cultural relations organization. It is one of the largest in Africa offering French language courses to thousands of students annually. It is the only accredited institution in Kenya for international and professional French language certification, and for certified translation services. The institution offers a rich programme of annual activities, encouraging creativity and exchanges, showcasing local and international Arts, and promoting cultural diversity.
We are looking for a full-time experienced Head of Translation and Interpretation Department to manage and market the services that it offers.
Responsibilities
- Marketing services (developing effective marketing strategies, promoting services to different audiences)
- Coordinating/managing translation/interpretation requests/projects
- Managing a team of translators/interpreters
Qualifications and skills
- Master’s degree in Translation
- Minimum C1 Level of French
- Experience in translation and interpretation
- Experience in Marketing
- Good organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Creativity and adaptability
- Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills
Salary Grade: 3+ (135,000 KSH)

We are looking for a full-time experienced Translator for our Translation and Interpretation Department.
Responsibilities
- Translation of official documents such as Kenyan and Foreign Academic and Civil Registry certificates, driving licenses, transcripts, bank statements, salary slips, medical certificates, etc.
- Assist in preparing quotations.
- Ensuring that all payments are made by MPESA, or bank deposit and that a receipt is given to the clients.
- Ensuring that the full payment has been made before giving the final document.
- Providing information about the department’s services.
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation or related field
- Minimum C1 Level of French
- Experience in translation and interpretation
- Good organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills
- High integrity and professionalism
Salary Grade: 2 (55,000 KSH plus commission on translations)
