Explore new frontiers in the creative industry and learn how to integrate immersive technologies in your projects
For the 2024 Novembre Numerique, festival of digital cultures, the Alliance Française in partnership with Fallohide Africa, invites intermediate-level experienced creatives in the film, XR, or immersive media industries to an Immersive Futures workshop led by extended reality (XR) experts from France and Kenya.
The Immersive Futures Lab is supported by the French Government’s Creation Africa project and the Institut Français.
Workshop Facilitators
From France, award-winning director and scriptwriter Joséphine Derobe will lead sessions on immersive storytelling, directing, and XR narratives, sharing her deep expertise in crafting compelling digital experiences. Her work in cinema and XR, including award-winning films and VR projects like the collective VR experience bear my soul and 360 documentary Meet Mortaza, will inspire participants to push their creative boundaries.
bear my Soul / Moi Fauve by Josephine Derobe and Claire Allante is produced by Small Creative. It is the winner of the Interactivity Prize at the 2024 New Images Festival. This immersive experience, together with three Kenyan VR experiences, will be open to the public at the Alliance Française from 20 to 23 November.
From Kenya, leading XR producer Walid Kilonzi of Fallohide Africa will provide insights into XR production, legal frameworks, and industry trends. Drawing from his experience with global giants like Google, Meta, and Nestlé, Walid will equip participants with valuable tools to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of XR technologies.
Who Should Apply?
We are seeking participants who:
- ● Have intermediate-level experience in the film, XR, or immersive media industries.
- ● Are from backgrounds in cinema, graphic design, or technology.
- ● Are actively engaged in the XR/immersive tech community in Kenya.
- ● Are eager to collaborate on innovative projects using immersive technologies.
