The Creation Africa – Kenya project is supported by the French Government, through the Fonds Equipe France funding facility, and aims to support the Kenyan Government’s Talanta Hela initiative to facilitate the development of an eco-system that will promote entrepreneurship in the creative and cultural industries and increase their potential contribution to the economy.
Following the Nyrobi Comic Fest, supported by Creation Africa – Kenya, that took place at the AF in March 2024, the Alliance Française in partnership with Reveal! Comics Conversations EA, will be producing an anthology of Kenyan Comics 2024. The Kenyan Comics Anthology 2024 aims to give young practicing comics artists an opportunity to be published alongside experienced comics artist. The anthology will be a collection of complete short stories, on the theme of “slice of life’ expressed in a broad variety of comic genres and styles.
Selected comics artists will work on a new complete story in line with the theme. A 2-day workshop facilitated by experts from the industry will give the selected comics artist an overview of the comics business and offer practical guidance on the craft of comics.
The anthology will be distributed to comics event’s organizers, and other collectives, whose mission it is to develop and promote creative opportunities for comic artists and professionals around the world.
Apart from the anthology, we will seek to identify opportunities for publishing the selected comics in local and international media (print and online). All your creations will remain your intellectual property and will only be published with your written consent.
