The Library

Our Library and Resource Centre has over 3,000 members. The library collection includes 16,000 books, 1000 DVDs, 400 music CDs and French magazines. We offer free access to a digital library and an online catalogue. Members and students are welcome to the library to watch films, listen to French music and consult educational resources on CD-ROMs for learning French as well as for general knowledge on France.

How to join

Simply present:

• 2 passport size photographs
• A copy of national ID/Passport
• Students: a valid Student ID Card

Membership fees

Alliance Française students: Free

Other Students:  2 500/- per year

Non Students:     3 000/- per year

Institutions :        8 000/- per year

The bibliothèque de l’apprenant is an accessory specifically designed to make learning French easy alongside the classroom lessons and is available to all members. With 2,500 multimedia resources at your disposal: grammar and exercise books, CD-roms, fiction and non-fiction, comics, music and films, all classified according to the different levels of French, this section allows users to improve their knowledge of the French language, culture and history. It is also a resource for students preparing for the DELF and DALF exams.

Membership of any Alliance Française multimedia library in Kenya (Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret) gives you free access to the Culturethèque digital library. Culturethèque can be accessed from any computer with internet access from anywhere in Kenya.

You can access hundreds of documentary resources with a few clicks of your mouse. These include books, audio books, videos, newspapers, journals, music and resources for learning the French language.

You can now experience Virtual Reality and walk in the streets of Paris while seated at the Multimedia Library.
